The Communion Meal

I kneel before the altar-rail;
A rob├ęd priest before me stands;
Offer God's Son unto God,
Worship God within his hands.

I open wide my unclean lips,
Teeth from humble mouth are hung;
Now the guest receives the Host;
Worship God upon my tongue.

Close my lips and bow my head,
Silence north and west and south;
Creator offered by His child;
Worship God inside my mouth.

Kneel before my morning meal,
Bought by love, that dearest pelf;
Offer God back unto God,
Worship God inside myself.
